A Judgment live-action TV show is reportedly in development with star Takuya Kimura also reportedly attached to lead the adaptation. Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku and published by Sega, the action-adventure video game serves as a spin-off of the studios' hit Yakuza franchise and centers on lawyer-turned-detective Takayuki Yagami and his friends in the fictional Tokyo district of Kamurocho. Judgment sees Yagami investigating a case in which a serial killer is targeting yakuza members in Kamurocho and removing their eyes after killing them.
Judgment received a generally positive reception from critics and gamers alike upon its release for its story and world building, though some criticism was directed towards the investigation mechanics. Thanks to the title's success, in which it would initially become the most successful release in Japan for a new IP on the eighth generation of consoles before Death Stranding, Ryu Ga Gotoku and Sega would get to work on a follow-up shortly thereafter. With Lost Judgment now out and receiving equally high acclaim from critics, the franchise appears to only just be getting started.

On the heels of the sequel arriving to rave reviews, Japanese publication Nikkan Gendai (via Kotaku) has brought word that a Judgment live-action TV show is reportedly in development at Asahi Television. The adaptation will also reportedly see the return of actor Takuya Kimura as Yagami, reprising his role from the video games, with the working title for the series said to be Sabakarezaru, translated to English as The Unjudged, which was the subtitle for the sequel game.
