In just three days, Lost Ark managed to gain nearly 5 million new players following its western debut. The expansion of the MMORPG had a turbulent beginning, but that did not stop Lost Ark from becoming Steam's fourth-biggest game just one day after its launch.
In the summer of 2021, it was officially announced that the Korean action-oriented MMORPG would be coming to both North America and Europe later in the year. Lost Ark's western expansion ended up being pushed back to February 11, 2022, but that did not stop Amazon Games' latest title from reaching immense levels of success right out of the gate. It has already broken player count records set by the likes of Counter-Strike: GO and DOTA and now more stunning figures from the first few days of play have been revealed.

GameSpot reported that Lost Ark acquired 4.7 million new registered accounts in just three days after its western launch. When it comes to location, it was almost an even split with 55% coming from the Americas and the rest being based in Europe. This massive surge for Lost Ark is comparable to the success of Amazon Games' New World as both currently have the honor of being in the top-five highest-played Steam games of all time, something the developers have acknowledged.
The immense success of Lost Ark's western launch does have some notable drawbacks. Due to the massive increase in player volume, queue times have lengthened considerably and frustrated a large portion of the game's community.
