The Amazon Games-published Lost Ark managed to break Counter-Strike: Global Offensive andDota records on Steam, in spite of its troublesome launch weekend. Lost Ark topped the Steam charts days before launch, thanks to its Early Access release for those who purchased the Founders Pack. At one point during the Early Access phase, for example, Lost Ark surpassed 500,000 concurrent Steam players. It was clear to anyone paying attention that Amazon Games had yet another heavy-hitter on its hands.
Not all went according to plan, however. Minutes before the MMORPG's official PC launch in the West, Amazon Games delayed its release due to unforeseen deployment problems. Lost Ark finally went live four hours later, but had its servers taken offline once more to resolve an error regarding the disappearance of player characters. The bumpy road did not end there, either; Lost Ark's launch weekend ran rampant with publisher-induced downtime to address issues affecting loading times, server queues, and the auction house. Still, Lost Ark's server queue errors and other widespread hiccups did little to thwart its popularity on Steam.
