Lenovo has launched its new YOGA Air 14s laptops equipped with AMD's Ryzen 7 7840S & Ryzen 5 7640S "Phoenix" APUs
The Lenovo Yoga Air 14S, known as Yoga Slim 7 Gen 8 in the EU, will exclusively feature the AMD Ryzen 5 7640S and the Ryzen 7 7840S "Phoenix" APUs which have appeared for the first time and seem to be exclusive to Lenovo (OEM partner).
While AMD hasn't disclosed the official specifications of these Ryzen 7040S APUs, they do seem to feature the same specs as their "U" siblings. For a quick recap, these AMD Ryzen 7040 APUs come in FP7 and FP8 configurations, with the latter one featuring AMD's MIPI CSI, which helps in media transmission. ITHome reports that Lenovo has stated that performance may differ in Microsoft's Studio Effect and AI-driven media applications through the Ryzen AI engine.
We aren't sure of any other modification; however, there could be since it is the first time such APUs are utilized. Coming to further details of the new models, the Yoga Air 14S features a 14.5-inch OLED display with a refresh rate of 90Hz. The "Yoga" lineup from Lenovo is specifically targeted to professionals, similar to the "ProArt" products by ASUS, due to which they don't feature gaming-oriented features.
You will have two options for memory: 16 GB and 32 GB LPDDR5X-6400. The variants' pricing has a regional difference, since in the EU, the laptop featuring the Ryzen 7 7840S comes at €1432/ $ 1564, while the 6-core Ryzen 5 7640S starts at €100 cheaper. The Chinese models, however, feature the Ryzen 7 7840S only, and they start at 7999 RMB / USD $1100, making the EU variants' price higher considering Lenovo has a much better relationship with Chinese consumers.
