The first LEGO Star Wars game was released almost twenty years ago in 2005 and made a big impression on gamers who grew up with the GameCube and original Xbox era of consoles. While the series has seen its ups and downs, the LEGO games are generally well-regarded by those who play them. 2016’s LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens saw good reviews at launch, and many fans are waiting eagerly for the release of LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga on April 5th.
Unfortunately, there is some bad news for LEGO Star Wars fans on PC. Publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment recently confirmed that players will not be able to pre-load LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga before it officially launches at 10 AM Pacific/1 PM Eastern.
Some Gamers Have Received LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Early
Reddit user sirbnjmn spread the word on the LEGO Star Wars game’s subreddit. He shared a screenshot of an email from WB Games Support, explaining that The Skywalker Saga’s PC players on Steam can download the game at 10 AM Pacific tomorrow. The email adds that “We’re not aware of any plans to allow users to pre-load the game installation before the release timing mentioned above.” This means that even PC gamers who pre-ordered The Skywalker Saga won be able to play immediately when the game launches.
PC gamers on the LEGO Star Wars subreddit were very annoyed with this news. There was more than a little grumbling about The Skywalker Saga’s release time, which is during the middle of a weekday when many fans will be at work.
