A speedrunner recently broke his own record by playing 10 LEGO games in a single day as preparation for the upcoming LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. There were plenty of LEGO-based video games before Traveler’s Tales released the first LEGO Star Wars game in 2005, but that particular title’s mix of kid-friendly action and character collecting would serve as the blueprint for all digital titles themed after the popular Norway-based building toy to come. In addition to adaptations of the classic Star Wars Trilogy, the first two seasons of Star Wars: The Clone Wars, and 2015’s Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens, the LEGO video game franchise would branch out into other properties like Marvel, DC Comics, Indiana Jones, and even a LEGO version of The Lord Of The Rings.
The next LEGO game will be LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga, which looks to be Traveler’s Tales’ biggest title yet. In addition to retelling the story of all nine mainline Star Wars movies (including the previously unadapted The Last Jedi and The Rise Of Skywalker), The Skywalker Saga will feature a massive roster of 300 playable characters and revamped lightsaber and blaster combat. Recent trailers for The Skywalker Saga have shown off the ways that the newest LEGO game plans to build upon the mythology of the long-running space opera franchise, such as revealing Emperor Palpatine’s previously unheard-of Order 67. Additionally, The Skywalker Saga will include a special Mumble Mode, which will remove all in-game dialogue to recreate the pantomime feel of older LEGO games.
