Konami To Resume Sales Of Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3

Good news Metal Gear fans. On today, the 35th anniversary of the release of Metal Gear, Konami has tweeted to confirm it will be "resuming sales of titles that have been temporarily suspended."

The news was shared by Metal Gear Solid historian Nitroid. We recently reported that with Metal Gear Solid 4 leaving PS Now back in May, there would be no way to play the first four games in the series on current-gen consoles - an insult to our medium's history.

Back in 2021, Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3 were removed from digital storefronts because they contained historical footage that they no longer had a license for. So, for Konami to resume sales of those games it either needs to remove that footage or get the license back - hopefully it did the latter.

Konami's original tweet translates to, "The "METAL GEAR" series released on July 13, 1987 celebrated its 35th anniversary today. We are preparing to resume sales of titles that have been temporarily suspended." We don't know exactly when these games will go back on sale, but hopefully, we don't have too long to wait.

This is comforting news after we recently heard Ubisoft is pulling its support for several of its older games.
