Konami has revealed its slate for next month's Tokyo Game Show and most of the studio's schedule is exactly what you would expect. However, there's a 45-minute slot set aside for a presentation that will focus on a new launch from Konami. Not a new IP, but the next installment in a series that is “beloved around the world”.
As soon as the announcement was made by Konami via its TGS schedule reveal (via Nibellion), fans of certain series created by the Japanese studio started to speculate wildly. Well, honestly, probably not that wildly. With Silent Hill, Metal Gear Solid, and Castlevania all likely getting new project reveals in the near future, those were the three names immediately being thrown around.

Fans of all three series quickly had their expectations tempered when a follow-up report from VGC revealed Konami's TGS announcement likely won't be connected to any of those IPs. A publishing source told the site that Konami is referencing one of its smaller series and not one of the big three so many people are eagerly awaiting to hear about. It's believed those project reveals will be saved for a bigger event, hopefully before the end of 2022.
That means the guessing game as to what Konami has hiding up its sleeve for this year's TGS can continue. The deliberate use of the phrase “beloved around the world” means whatever the announcement is, it will need to deliver. Series under the Konami banner that arguably fit that description include Yu-Gi-Oh, or maybe even Bomberman which is in dire need of a hit new game.
