Kirbyand the Forgotten Land is more than just a 3D platformer of adorable fun. It’s also a game with tons of collectables and hidden objectives. There are Waddle Dees to find, baddies to take down, and a huge post-apocalyptic world to explore. Our Kirby and the Forgotten Land beginner’s guide explains how to get started in the new Kirby game and what to look out for.

There are so many hidden missions and Waddle Dees in each map, and most of them are hidden behind things that purposely look out of place. Does that red flower look weird? Go look at it. Is there a suspicious fish in the water? Go take a peek. Does the path look like it splits behind this wall? Try to take it.

Worst case scenario: You waste a couple of seconds looking at a cute asset. Best case scenario: You find a hidden Waddle Dee.

If you’re doing a thorough search of every level, expect any doorway or entrance you go through to be a one-way trip. This means you can’t go back to previous areas once you enter doors. Of course, this isn’t always the case, but it’s much easier if you expect them to only go one way because you don’t want to redo an entire level after missing a secret path.

The biggest thing that was getting us hit during boss fights was charging and using specific copy abilities. Lots of abilities lock you in place while you’re using them, so if you’re greedy for damage (like us), then you might find yourself getting hit more often.

Regular, pink Kirby does quite a bit of damage when he sucks up stars and spits them at bosses, so using him this way is not a terrible way to go.

If you hover over structures and peculiar landforms on the overworld map, you may be able to interact with them. You may find coins, or you may even find a Treasure
