A new video game featuring a wahine Māori called Guardian Maia is rich and finely detailed in te ao Māori.
Shiloh Repia-Barbarich, 9 years old from Kaiti School and from Ngati Porou, Te Aitanga-a-Hauiti, talks to Maru Nihoniho about the new game.
Nihoniho grew up playing video games, but wanted to design a game featuring Māori characters and gameplay.
She hopes Guardian Maia wil inspire more indigenous video gamers. The game is due to be launched in 2023.
