Jack Dorsey, co-founder and former Twitter CEO, seems quite happy about Elon Musk buying Twitter for $44 billion, going so far as to thank the billionaire.
In a series of tweets posted early this morning, Dorsey admitted that his "biggest regret" was Twitter as a company, and that "Taking it back from Wall Street is the correct first step."
While lots of Twitter users are racing to leave the service behind and find a new home on Mastodon, it will surprise many to hear Dorsey talking so positively about Musk now being in control of his creation. In a follow-up tweet he goes on to state that "Elon is the singular solution I trust" when it comes to Twitter as a company, and that "I trust his mission to extend the light of consciousness."
Dorsey believes Twitter as a platform being "maximally trusted and broadly inclusive" is the correct path and points out that's why he chose Parag Agrawal to replace him as Twitter CEO in November last year. He also thanks both Agrawal and Musk for "getting the company out of an impossible situation."
For anyone unsure as to the future of Twitter and who are currently questioning whether they will continue to use the service, Dorsey's comments may come as some relief. In his final tweet (for now) on the matter, Dorsey said, "I’m so happy Twitter will continue to serve the public conversation. Around the world, and into the stars!" Perhaps that's enough of an encouragement for us all to sit back and see what happens before hitting delete on our Twitter accounts.
