Meta owned photo sharing app Instagram has come up with a new feature that will allow all users to tag brands and products in their posts. Previously this Instagram feature was restricted to business and creator accounts only, but now it is rolling out to all its users with public accounts. The Instagram product tagging feature comes as part of Meta's effort to bring a robust e-commerce market to the social media platforms. Making the announcement, Instagram said, "From supporting brands you love to helping your friends and family discover new products they may like, sharing products on Instagram just got easier."
Users can tag products in their posts with ease. To use the Instagram product tagging feature, users simply need to tap the photo that they want to share and add a tag. Once a user taps the name of that product, they will be redirected through a “product detail page” where they can buy those products directly in the app.
Instagram creators and influencers use these tags to share/show how they use and style the products on Instagram and inspire their communities. But do note that, these influencers get paid for the promoted products via Instagram’s affiliate program. Instagram affiliate links allow users to earn money via sales made through the platform’s affiliate links. However, this affiliate link feature is only available for verified accounts and not for all. So you’ll not get paid when people buy products through your tags if you account is not verified.
