According to Reese Witherspoon, star of Legally Blonde 3, the writers for the upcoming sequel are drawing inspiration from an unlikely source - Top Gun: Maverick. It has been over twenty years since Witherspoon first appeared as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde. Legally Blonde 2 follows a similar plot, with Elle proceeding to prove herself in Congress rather than law school. The sequel managed to bring an admirable sum of money upon release, but it generally received negative reviews from critics. Almost two decades went on to pass before a third installment was finally announced. High expectations are common when attempting to reboot or revisit cult classics and Legally Blonde 3 is no exception.
