One of the new mounts added to Final Fantasy XIV with the latest expansion, Dawntrail, is a blast from the past. The Oppressor mount is a replication of the boss fought in Alexander – The Fist of the Father, an 8-player raid introduced way back in Heavensward.
To get your hands on the Oppressor Identification Key, which can be used to unlock your very own Oppressor, you’ll need to dive into some PvP in the time between the release of Dawntrail and the release of 7.1. Historically, the time between an expansion and an X.1 patch has been around five months.
The Oppressor Identification Key will unlock once you reach PvP series level 25, so you’ll need to take part in a lot of PvP over the period of Series 6.
Thankfully, whether you win or lose, you’ll still get Series Malmstone EXP, so as long as you’re diving in and getting involved, you’ll eventually be able to get your hands on the mount. You can get between 700 (if you lose) and 1,500 EXP (if you win) each time you take part in any of the different types of PvP Duties in FFXIV.
Here’s how much Series Malmstone EXP you’ll need to climb through those levels:
Thankfully, you won’t be left empty-handed before you unlock the Oppressor mount. Not only will you gain 1,000 Trophy Crystals per level you climb, which can be used to purchase items from the Crystal Quartermaster in Wolves’ Den Pier (X:4.4, Y:6.1), but there are also some other rewards up for grabs through leveling up.
All of these items will be unlocked along the way to that much coveted Oppressor Identification Key:
