Like Aadhaar card, PAN card is also a very crucial document which is used as a valid photo ID proof. From opening a bank account to various other purposes, a PAN card is required. If you lost your physical PAN card, you can avail an e-PAN. e-PAN works similar to a physical PAN card and can be used for all the financial transactions and domains where it is mandatory to provide a PAN. Those who have a valid Aadhaar number and a registered mobile number linked to the Aadhaar can avail the e-PAN. It must be noted that only they can apply for e-PAN who don’t have a physical PAN card. As per provisions of Section 272B of the Income Tax Act., 1961, a penalty of Rs. 10,000 can be levied on possession of more than one PAN.
