Ms. Marvel director Adil El Arbi believes it is still possible for the MCU to have Inhumans and a comic-accurate Kamala Khan after the surprise finale reveal. One half of the directing duo that will also be behind Batgirl, El Arbi and his creative partner Bilall Fallah led the Ms. Marvel directorial team and were responsible for lending the series much of its unique and energetic visual style. Based on the comic character of the same name, Ms. Marvel was the second MCU-connected television series to focus on a previously unintroduced character, and it made several changes to its titular heroine in the process.
In the original comics, Kamala had her dormant abilities as an Inhuman activated when she encountered the Terrigen Mists one night while sneaking out to attend a high school party. While in the recent television series Kamala is able to conjure and control cosmic energy and create hard light constructs, in her comic book origins she possesses body morphing abilities which enable her to elongate parts of her body as well as shapeshift. However, perhaps the most surprising change to her character came in the final moments of the series finale which intimated that the MCU’s version of Kamala is its first official mutant (aside from Professor Xavier’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).

Most recently, El Arbi spoke with The Direct and weighed in on the controversial decision to not make Kamala an Inhuman and suggests that there still may be room for a more comic-accurate iteration of the character.
