Despite the ongoing Russian invasion, Ukrainian game studio Frogwares is still moving forward with the release of DLC for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. This action-adventure mystery game follows the early days of the legendary detective's career and has found a niche audience of gamers since its 2021 release, with fans enjoying Sherlock Holmes's unique blend of methodical combat and deduction.
Following the detective game's release last year, one would be forgiven for thinking that the Ukraine-based studio developing it would have trouble releasing its planned DLC in light of the current war. Following Russia's invasion, a number of game companies, both high-profile industry leaders and smaller indie developers, have spoken out against the country, with giants like Nintendo and Sony stopping Russian sales of their products. Gaming industry complications go far beyond these examples, however, as Ukraine's burgeoning world of game development has also been negatively affected by the invasion. Certain studios have stopped the development of their games in the interest of safety, and GSC Game World notably halted work on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 — a highly anticipated Xbox and PC exclusive.

However, this does not seem to be the case for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One. A press release from developer Frogwares shed some light on the company's situation, stating that several of its employees are engaged in humanitarian efforts and that safety is a top concern. Despite this, the studio has been able to finish work on the Sherlock Holmes Chapter One DLC due in part to aid from external help and remote-based staff.
