HBO's long-awaited Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon premiered this past Sunday with a gory and shocking debut, setting up a lot of drama to come. The network has released a trailer for the upcoming episodes, and as anyone might have guessed, it appears there is plenty of drama and bloodshed ahead.
The trailer below spotlights some of the action to come in the «weeks ahead,» so we're probably getting a glimpse at what's in store for not just Episode 2, but the rest of Season 1 as well. The trailer also confirms that the expected time jump is coming, with some scenes showing the grown-up versions of Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alcient Hightower, played by Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke, respectively.
House of the Dragon's season premiere was a big success for HBO, attracting 9.986 million same-day viewers to become HBO's biggest season premiere for any show in its history.
New episodes will air Sundays at 6 PM PT / 9 PM ET until the season finale on October 23. The show will soon overlap with another high-profile fantasy series, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, from Amazon Studios, which premieres September 2 on Prime Video.
In addition to House of the Dragon, HBO is developing a Jon Snow TV series from Kit Harington and George R.R. Martin. The show is in production, but that doesn't mean it will ever be made; right now it's an idea. HBO began producing numerous other Game of Thrones shows but never made them, for example.
