HBO has released a new teaser trailer for House of the Dragon Episode 4, and it sets up a very dramatic episode to come. The trailer and this story contain spoilers for House of the Dragon.
Rhaenyra opens the video by saying, mysteriously, «From my blood comes the prince that was promised, and his will be the song of ice and fire.» We then learn that Episode 4 will seemingly dig deeper into the matter of succession for the Iron Throne, with Daemon (Matt Smith), Rhaenyra (Milly Alcock), and the baby prince Aegon all mentioned as potential heirs.
After this, Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans) approaches King Viserys (Paddy Considine) to give him some «discomforting news.» Apparently Rhaenyra is involved in some capacity, as she declares it to be a «vile accusation,» whatever it is. The video shows two people presumably in a steamy situation, and that may play a role in whatever drama Otto was referring to.
King Viserys doesn't like the rumors, either, saying, «Who is responsible for this gossip? I will take their eyes.» The video goes on to show Daemon returning to King's Landing in a cloak. Clearly, there is something big coming in the story arc, but we'll have to wait until this Sunday, September 11, to learn more.
Episode 3 featured a multi-year time jump, and there is presumably a bigger jump coming in future episodes. The actresses who currently play Rhaenyra and Alicent will be replaced by older versions played by Emma D'Arcy and Olivia Cooke, respectively.
House of the Dragon is now competing with another high-profile fantasy series, Amazon Studios' The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, which picked up 25 million viewers for its first episodes.
