Adder's Tongue is a herb introduced to the Herbalism profession in World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. This is a key herb used for several alchemy recipes we will cover, and can also be milled by players with the new Inscription profession also introduced in WotLK.
The only zone you can gather Adder's Tongue in WotLK Classic is in Sholazar Basin. You should only need a riding mount to farm this efficiently. Since the terrain in Sholazar is much tamer than that of Icecrown and Storm Peaks, you will not be as burdened if you do not have Cold Weather Flying as you would farming Lich Bloom, for example.
We have two suggested routes for Adder's Tongue in Sholazar Basin shown on the map below.
You can follow the Orange Route if you want to have the most efficient farming route for Adder's Tongue. This can be advantageous as you can get to the end/start of the route right around the time of respawning, making it unlikely that another player grabs the node before you. The respawn rate of Adder's Tongue is only approximately two and a half minutes.
Alternatively, you can branch off to the west to include the Grey Route if you want to hit basically all nodes in the map. If you are finding that the orange route is not respawning fast enough, you can add this in. This will be the longest route, but it will give ample time for herbs to respawn by the time you have finished a lap.
Adder's Tongue is used in the recipe of many Alchemy crafts listed below. You can also check out our full WotLK Alchemy Guide here. The most notable item here is the Northrend Alchemy Research. You will want to make sure you craft this every 3 days when its cooldown is ready. If you get some recipes this as soon as possible as an Alchemist near the launch
