Salvage Contractors can be found at camps in Horizon Forbidden West, and completing contracts for them is the only way to initiate the competition that Larend and Keruf tell Aloy about. The competition can be learned about in Barren Light, and it will take place at that camp after all of the Salvage Contractor quests are completed. Keruf invites the competitors to create the best armor possible using salvaged machine parts.
Each Salvage Contractor will ask Aloy to find several machine parts for them to complete their armor for the competition. The Salvage Contractors are also merchants that sell crafting materials. Players will likely be able to find rare materials from these NPCs which can be used to craft valuable items. Resources can be purchased from Salvage Contractors in exchange for Metal Shards which are earned in a variety of ways, like delivering all of the Signal Lenses in Horizon Forbidden West.

Along with having merchants to buy potentially legendary resources from, helping all of the Salvage Contractors will award players the Completed a Set of Salvage Contracts trophy. The Oseram Artificer armor set will also be unlocked for finishing the "Keruf Salvage Unlimited" quest by completing all of the contracts given by the four Salvage Contractors in Horizon Forbidden West. Although unlocking the Oseram Artificer set occurs later in the game, it's worth pursuing as it is one of the most powerful armor sets available in Horizon Forbidden West.
