Highwater, an indie game set in a post-climate emergency world, has just been revealed at Summer Game Fest. It will launch later this year, and is coming to PC and mobile.
The announcement trailer was just unveiled during the Summer Game Fest showcase, and gives us a taste of what this melancholic indie has in store for us.

"One thing we can't deny is that the world ended on a sunny day", says a radio presenter in Highwater, as a boat-dweller wakes up on a dingy. We see shots of a city completely decimated and submerged by flooding - an eerie reminder of what some parts of the world are already experiencing due to the climate emergency.
Highwater is a turn-based strategy game, although it doesn't seem like we got a look at the gameplay in this reveal footage. However, we do have an idea of what themes the story will explore, with a government agency hoarding supplies, and even talk of elites escaping the manmade destruction and living by living on Mars. It seems that we'll play as survivors, surfing through the post-apocalypse and fighting to get by.
Highwater is being developed by Rogue Games, and is available to wishlist on Steam now. It will be available on PC exclusively via Steam, and on mobile through both iOS and Android.
This is a developing story.
