With the release of iOS 15.4 beta this week, Apple added support for Emoji 14, introducing a number of new emojis to the mix. Emojis were created as pictorial representation of emotions, and are often used by many to express themselves in online communications. While there are hundreds of emojis available already, the new ones might make the messaging experience on iPhone just a little bit more fun.
Emoji 14 was originally approved last September alongside Unicode 14.0. It brought a ton of new emojis, many of which focus on the theme of unity in diversity. One such emoji is the multi-racial handshake, which shows two shaking hands with different skin tones. Until now, the only available handshake emoji showed both hands in the same skin tone.

According to Emojipedia, support for Emoji 14 will bring a ton of new emojis to iOS 15.4, including the much-talked about melting face emoji. Some of the other notable emojis include heart hands, a bird's nest, a lotus, pregnant man, person with crown, troll, X-Ray, mirror disco ball, and more. The aforementioned multi-racial handshake will also be part of the list, as will low-battery and crutch emojis. Overall, there are 37 new emojis with 75 skin tone additions. The handshake emoji, in particular, is big news for many, given that it has been in the works for around two years now. According to Engadget, it was first proposed by Jennifer Daniel, Google's creative director for emoji, in 2019, and was originally scheduled for release in 2021 before the date was pushed back due to pandemic-related delays.
