A pair of real-world firearm parts manufacturers are working to bring some of the futuristic elements of Halo's guns into reality. Microsoft and 343 Industries’ long-running sci-fi FPS series has been home to several high-concept weapons over the years, from powerful sniper rifles that can strike down an enemy in a single shot to intense laser beams. The recent Halo Infinite added even more of these blasters to the Master Chief’s arsenal, along with useful new tools like Halo Infinite’s Spider-Man-like Grappleshot and the grenade-blocking Deflector.
As with most video games, Halo’s vast assortment of guns comes with plenty of useful features that don’t exist in the real world — at least not yet. In Halo, players know how much ammo they have left thanks to a number on their Heads-Up Display, and they don’t have to worry about factors like bullet drop or the recoil that inevitably comes when a gun is fired in the real world. These features seem like they would be forever trapped in the realm of gaming and science fiction, but a couple of companies are currently working on a new weapon mod that could make some of the high-tech functionally of Halo’s weapons a reality.

According to Task And Purpose, firearm parts manufacturers Maztech and Magpul debuted what they call the X4 Fire Control System during this weekend’s SHOT Show 2022 event. As shown in a brief trailer posted to Magpul's official YouTube channel, the X4 Fire Control System is a suite of electronics that can be equipped onto any low power variable optic rifle to add computer-assisted smart functionality and a feed of helpful data including a count of how much ammunition is left in the gun.
