Halo Infinite has pulled in over 20 million players since launching on December 8, 2021, marking the biggest launch in series history.
That milestone comes with a few caveats, however, given Halo Infinite was the first title in the franchise to include free-to-play multiplayer.
Like all first-party Microsoft titles, the long-awaited open world shooter was also made available through Xbox Game Pass on day one, letting subscribers dip in at no extra cost.
Halo Infinite was deployed on Xbox Series X | S, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows platforms at launch. It's unclear how those 20 million players were split across each platform, or indeed how many forked out for the premium campaign mode.
