The surprise launch of Portal: Companion Collection following Nintendo's Partner Showcase was a momentous occasion for the fan-favorite franchise. Portal: Companion Collection marks the first time a Valve-developed game has released on a Nintendo console. While Nintendo had previously released the Clockstone-developed Bridge Constructor: Portal spinoff, none of Valve's in-house entries had ever come to Nintendo platforms. Twitter user OatmealDome shared the surprise discovery Tuesday following the Companion Collection's release after diving into its files. While the user confirmed the Switch version's similarities to the previously released port to Nvidia Shield, they also discovered a wealth of Half-Life 2 files contained within. Though they confirmed «finding Half-Life 2 files is expected,» given Portal's use of Half-Life 2 assets, the port reportedly contains unnecessary files such as NPCs and models exclusive to Half-Life 2.
