Gotham Knights developer WB Games Montreal and DC release a new behind-the-scenes trailer, diving into the comic book inspirations of Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, and Red Hood. It's no secret these characters have a long history in DC comics, and each character has seen several versions of themselves exist. Walking the line between honoring comic origins, managing fan expectations, and yet providing a unique approach is often hard.
The latest Gotham Knights trailer dives into how WB Games Montreal deals with that in the upcoming game. After all, not only does the developer need to manage these tricky elements, but also work in the fact that the one thing that brings them together—Batman—is gone.
Gotham Knights Gets 10 New Minutes of Gameplay
This behind-the-scenes trailer features multiple interviews about how the team approached these characters and translated these characters into Gotham Knights' combat and into a unique story about a «found family» beginning as no cohesive group. Furthermore, because players will spend time with these characters with their masks on, the team had to weave narrative elements together to depict each character as an individual outside the mark, resulting in a lot of «attitudes» and conflicts that push their interpersonal relationships with the other characters. These characters have largely worked alone and independently, and coming together is not an easy task. All in all, for fans of Gotham Knights or these DC heroes in general, the new trailer offers some great insight into this adaptation process.
