Google Doodle celebrates Earth Day 2022; shows impact of climate change
Earth Day 2022: Every year April 22 is celebrated as Earth Day- a day dedicated to planet Earth, where we live. The day is celebrated in order to demonstrate support and spread awareness about environmental protection. Google Doodle has also on Friday celebrated the occasion by showing the impact of climate change on Earth. Yes, Doodle artwork of the Google search engine today addresses the issue of climate change, by showing how it has impacted the Glacier retreat at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro, Glacier retreat in Greenland, Coral bleaching on Lizard Island, Australia, and Forests destroyed by bark beetle infestation in Germany.
Real time-lapse imagery has been used by Google Doodle to show the impact of climate change across the above-mentioned four different locations around Earth. "Today’s annual Earth Day Doodle addresses one of the most pressing topics of our time: climate change," Google Doodle said. It further added, "Using real time-lapse imagery from Google Earth Timelapse and other sources, the Doodle shows the impact of climate change across four different locales around our planet."
"Stay tuned throughout the day to view these scenes, each remaining on the homepage for several hours at a time," it said. As per the details provided, the images used in the time-lapse to show the impact of climate change in glacier retreat at the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania have been taken each December annually from 1986 to 2020.
The images showing glacier retreat in Sermersooq, Greenland are also taken every December from 2000 to 2020. The third image to appear on the Google homepage is of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, showing the coral bleaching on Lizard Island. The images used in the imagery have been taken
