Godzilla and the Titans and the rest of the Monsterverse are headed to the small screen in a monstrous deal with Apple TV+ in a new series. The unnamed program will take place after the events of Godzilla: King of The Monsters and will show the inner workings of the secret organization Monarch and the effect it has on families.
The new series will be produced by Legendary Television and executive produced by Chris Black, whose credits include Outcast from AMC and Star Trek: Enterprise, and will also serve as showrunner. He will be joined by comic book writer Matt Fraction and Safehouse Pictures' Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell. On the Toho side of things, Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita will executive produce.
Legendary's established Monsterverse began with 2014's Godzilla, continuing with 2017's Kong: Skull Island, followed by Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and culminated with Godzilla vs. Kong, which premiered in theaters and HBO Max last year. There is a planned Skull Island anime in production. This is Godzilla's first serialized show since Godzilla: The Series, which was more in line with the 1998 live-action movie--which also caused a rift between Toho and American studios for years.
The untitled Monsterverse series will premiere on Apple TV worldwide. No cast or premiere date has been announced.
