Sony and Santa Monica Studio were reportedly set to reveal the God of War Ragnarok release date on June 30 before this announcement was supposedly delayed. While no official reason was ever given, many believed it tied to the recent and controversial decision by the Supreme Court to overturn Roe v Wade. Many were understandably upset by the delayed announcement, for whatever reason it was supposedly delayed, but the amount of harassment Santa Monica Studio received as a result is not acceptable.
Indeed, Cory Barlog said fans would get this information as soon as Sony and Santa Monica were ready, and now it seems the companies were ready to show this off. God of War Ragnarok received a new cinematic today, clocking in at a short 30 seconds. It includes some dialogue between Atreus and Kratos, as well as the reveal of Fenrir. In Norse mythology, Fenrir is one of the children of Loki, so it'll be interesting to see how it shakes out. However, packed in this short clip too is the release date.
