Peacock releases a new trailer for Girls5eva season 2. Created by showrunner and Emmy Award winner Meredith Scardino, the series follows a one-hit-wonder girl group from the 90s who receive an unexpected boost in popularity, giving them another chance at stardom. Making up the maturer and somewhat unlikely girl group are Sara Bareilles as Dawn, Busy Philipps as Summer, Renée Elise Goldsberry as Wickie, and Paula Pell as Gloria.
In the new unveiled by Peacock, the titular girl group is seen entering “Album Mode” as they attempt to take creative control and create some new music. Opening with the gang gathered behind a piano as they try and fail to film a video on Instagram, viewers quickly get an idea of just how well their music-making may be going. Despite being told that they have just six weeks to complete a whole new album, the girls seem determined to succeed no matter what as Wickie produces her so-called “riff-Rolodex” for some pre-made musical inspiration. Summing up their journey so far, Dawn marvels, “Look how far we’ve come.” Check out the trailer below:

The new trailer follows a previously teased clip from Girls5eva season 2 which suggested the group’s climb to stardom had already hit a hurdle as Gloria was told she needed a knee replacement. Hailing from Universal Television, the show enjoyed a hugely positive reception upon its premiere in May 2021. Boasting a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, it was quickly renewed for a second season, with Scardino, Jeff Richmond, Tina Fey, Robert Carlock, David Miner and Eric Gurian attached to executive produce. Girls5eva season 2 will debut on May 5.
