Renowned video game journalist Jeff Gerstmann, who co-founded the gaming website and wiki Giant Bomb, is leaving the site to begin his own podcast supported through Patreon. Gerstmann began his career at GameSpot, but after being terminated from the site he founded Giant Bomb alongside Ryan Davis. Last year multiple employees like Alex Navarro and Brad Shoemaker left Giant Bomb, and now the site's beloved co-founder is also taking his leave.
Launched in 2008, Giant Bomb serves as both a platform for video game editorial journalism and a video game wiki database. Giant Bomb's staff produces reviews, news articles and podcasts, and then users can expand upon this content by creating and editing the Giant Bomb database at their leisure. Following his termination from GameSpot Jeff Gerstmann created the site, alongside fellow editor Ryan David, and many writers followed with him. Rather than creating Giant Bomb as a direct competitor to GameSpot, Gerstmann hoped to improve and expand upon his previous experiences with the site. Jeff Gerstmann's departure from GameSpot caused controversy, and now the Giant Bomb co-founder will be leaving the site he created to succeed it.
