Noida will soon roll out a major benefit for the public. Noida Authority has announced to bring new technological developments including access to free WiFi and make the benches with built-in mobile phone charging points as well as USB ports. That means Noida residents will soon be able to charge their smartphones or devices or make use of the internet even in their localities. In addition to these, Noida residents will be able to find signage pointing towards the nearest ATM on a 1.7-kilometre stretch between Shashi Chowk and Logix City Centre Mall in Noida.
According to a report by the Times of India, the Noida Authority will install free WiFi stations throughout the stretch between Shashi Chowk and the Logix City Centre Mall. What else will be there? A theme-based pedestrian stretch with smart benches. Smart because the benches will be equipped with mobile phone charging points as well as USB ports.
According to the report, the Noida Authority mentions that it would also ensure the safety of pedestrians and cyclists throughout the stretch in the city through panic buttons attached to the poles on the road. These buttons will have an intelligent traffic management system (ITMS). So in an emergency situation, when someone will press the button, it will send alerts to the nearest traffic control room for immediate response.
Authority CEO Ritu Maheshwari said that “Safety on the road has been given importance under this project, especially for pedestrians and cyclists. For this, theme-based pedestrian crossings and pathways will be part of the road. Apart from these, one side of the road will be converted into a multi-utilities zone (MUZ) with free Wi-Fi.”
