Gary Oldman and Christopher Nolan are reuniting for Oppenheimer as the actor will be in one scene. For his latest big-budget, non-franchise production, the filmmaker is returning to recreating real-life events as he did in Dunkirk. That 2017 movie earned him a Best Director and Best Picture nomination, and in Nolan's continued quest to win his first Oscar, he's tackling the true story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the father of the atomic bomb. Oppenheimer comes from Universal, who gave the film a summer 2023 release date after Nolan and Warner Bros. had a falling out over Tenet.
Details on Oppenheimer are still under wraps, but it has been described as an epic thriller built around J. Robert's paradox that he must risk destroying the world in order to save it. Filming is currently underway on Nolan's new movie, which has a budget of more than $100 million and will release exclusively in theaters. Oppenheimer stars Cillian Murphy as the father of the atomic bomb and he's surrounded by an incredible ensemble of talented performers. While Murphy has worked with Nolan before, Oppenheimer's expansive cast includes exciting first-time collaborators like Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt, and Matt Damon.

Nolan loves working with the same actors over and over again, and another former collaborator has confirmed a reunion with the director in Oppenheimer.
