The Steam Deck has officially been released, allowing gamers to play their PC games on the go. Valve boss Gabe Newell has stated that he is playing on the system, and let gamers know what title he is currently diving into. Newell said that he is playing an MMO on the Steam Deck at the moment, Square Enix's Final Fantasy 14.
The Steam Deck originally had a December 2021 release date, but had to be delayed. The Steam Deck is now available to purchase for reservation holders, who will be receiving an email soon where they will then be given 72 hours to make their purchase. There is also a dock for the system on the way, with Valve stating that they will discuss more about it soon, with a view of getting it out in «late spring.»

In a recent interview with IGN, Newell was asked how much time he has put into using the Steam Deck, to which he responds «Quite a bit.» He then states that he is currently playing Final Fantasy 14, particularly with his son. This is quite different from what he used to test the portable system, as he stated last year that he had been playing Dota 2 in order to try out the Steam Deck.
Newell speaks about his son getting into Final Fantasy 14, and how he was getting frustrated with the people that he would go raiding with. He then asked Newell to be his «minion,» particularly his healer that will not let him die when he is tanking. Newell states that he had gotten burned out on World of Warcraft, and that he had not played an MMO for some time. Since he started playing Final Fantasy 14 with his son, Newell says that he has been «playing a ton of it on the Deck.»
Those who purchase a Steam Deck will not have a shortage of games to play.
