In the Futurama and The Simpsons’ very first comic crossover, Marvel’s Ego the Living Planet is turned into one of the biggest nerds in the galaxy! Being a sentient planet is one thing, but being an entire world chock-full of geek knowledge is something that real nerds could only dream about achieving!
Seen in the first part of the two-part crossover event titled Futurama/Simpsons Infinitely Secret Crossover Crisis, by Ian Boothby and James Lloyd, this issue sees the Planet Express crew consisting of Fry, Bender, Leela, and the rest of the usual suspects as they fly across the galaxy on a mission that’s already super nerdy in nature. Tasked with delivering the universe’s largest collection of comics to Earth, Fry and company head out to the Geek-E Galaxy to pick up their shipment and continue their nerd-related journey.

Killing time by reading a reprinted Simpson’s comic from back in the day, Fry is concerned about the collection they’re picking up, as the intention for them is to be encased in liquid diamond to preserve their collectability. Finally arriving in the Geek-E Galaxy, the Planet Express crew is permitted to land byFuturama’s version of Ego the Living Planet who immediately comes across as a fun parody of this well-known Marvel character.
Named Nerdanus XII the Living Planet, Futurama and Marvel fans are greeted by a rocky planetoid with buck teeth, craggy pimples, an asteroid ring for glasses, and of course, a passion for all things nerd-related.
