Caroline Henderson plays Jarl Haakon and Frida Gustavsson plays Freydís Eiríksdóttir in Netflix's Vikings: Valhalla. Picking up over a century after the original Vikings show, Valhalla tracks the end of the Viking Age by following key figures from the time period. One of those is Freydís, the sister of Leif Erikson. Henderson's Jarl Haakon, on the other hand, is a character created originally for the show and her and Freydís form a unique bond early on.
Screen Rant sat down with Frida Gustavsson and Caroline Henderson to talk all things Vikings: Valhalla, including their unique bond in the show and Freydís' spiritual journey.

Screen Rant: So many times, when we see these types of stories told on screen, it's primarily from the perspective of men and one of my favorite things about Valhalla is we get these amazing female characters that really drive the plot. How did it feel to be part of a production like that, where you're really at the forefront and you're controlling a lot of the plot moving forward.
Caroline Henderson: My character is purely fictional. That being said, it's definitely based on characters that, you know, lived and that we know through research. So it's kind of a mixture and I think they did a wonderful job, the writers and Jed, of portraying and writing this very strong female character.
It's been amazing to do this together with Frida and to bond. I mean, we both bonded as friends like in Frida/Caroline and as the characters and I think you can see that. I hope you can feel that when you see the series. And of course, for us being Scandinavian women, we know that women like that existed. We know that there were women leaders, fighters,
