Players may have noticed when logging in for the first time after Patch 1.1.2 was released that there was a new splash banner. Where before these splash banners had been for things such as announcing Seasonal Information or the launch of Diablo 4 itself, this time, the banner directed players to check out Tejal's Shop: This prompted a flurry of conversation — and a rather large question: with nearly one set released every two days, just how many cosmetic sets had entered Tejal's Shop since Season 1 began? One user, SheWhoHates on Reddit, decided to make a graphic detailing free, paid, and Shop cosmetics which were released.
While there are some minor discrepancies (for instance, the set listed under the Free tier does not include a Free helm — the helm can only be gained through the Paid Battle Pass, as well as the Awakened Coldiron set being missing), SheWhoHates was quite thorough in showing that so far, including Battle Pass sets, nearly 25 cosmetic sets have been released which cost real world currency. While many players had expressed a desire to see better quality cash shop items for the prices that were being charged, just as many players expressed outrage that the cash shop existed at all — and this served to make the divide deeper. With many issues surrounding Diablo 4 at the time unaddressed by Blizzard, players in many situations expressed on Reddit and other sites that the splash was «tone deaf» — especially given that Trading had been disabled due to item duplication exploits at the time.
