Fortnite has been releasing a lot of new content as of late. From launching Chapter 3 Season 2 and creating the «No Build» mode to giving players a Coachella experience within Fortnite, the developers are giving fans consistent updates to keep them interested and to keep the battle royale feeling fresh. Now, it seems that one leaker has spotted another upcoming change to Fortnite that will see Star Wars lightsabers return to the game after a long hiatus.
Initially, players could obtain lightsabers during aFortnite event coinciding with the release of Star Wars Episode 9: The Rise of Skywalker. Director JJ Abrams spoke shortly to players before they were given the famous sci-fi weapons. Initially dropping in December 2019, Fortnite's lightsabers were a controversial addition to the game. While some found them fun, especially combined with the Star Wars skins available in the shop, other players believed the weapons were overpowered, as they could block significant amounts of oncoming fire.

Lightsabers disappeared from Fortnite after the Rise of Skywalker event was over, but they did make another appearance in May 2020 as part of a May 4th event. Now, according to a Fortnite leaker, lightsabers will be making a return again this May 4th, which is considered by many to be a day for celebrating all things Star Wars. It would make sense for the battle royale to bring back the weapons for a limited time.
When they returned in 2020, the damage lightsabers did had been largely unchanged. So Fortnite players could yet again worry about the meta shifting towards lightsabers. However, some fans believe that the Star Wars weapons won't be available in competitive play,
