Forspoken is an upcoming action RPG that had many intrigued when it showed off the first looks at its story and gameplay. The story revolves around a young woman named Frey, who is transported to the mythical world of Athia, where she finds herself imbued with magical abilities. Forspoken seemed an ambitious title from the beginning, and it has shown off impressive elements with each new portion of content dropped. Forspoken last displayed new gameplay footage in April this year, giving fans ten minutes of combat.
However, with a supposed release date set for October this year, many believed that Forspoken had been rather quiet. Some fans had begun to suspect that Forspoken could be on its way towards another delay, and now they have confirmation of that. An image was posted to Forspoken's official Twitter account stating that as a result of discussions with key partners, a «strategic decision» had been made to move Forspoken's launch date from October 11, 2022, to January 24, 2023.

This isn't the first time Forspoken has faced a significant delay. Back in March, it was announced that Forspoken was moving from a May release date to its previously planned October launch. While many fans will be disappointed to hear of Forspoken's delay, there are some positives to take away from the announcement. Namely, it is stated by Square Enix and developer Luminous Productions that all of Forspoken's game elements are now complete and that development is now in its «final polishing phase.»
Hopefully, this means that, with the six months Luminous has given itself to finish Forspoken, the game will be in a much better state than it otherwise would have been were it to have been
