The release date of For All Mankind season 3 has been revealed in a new teaser trailer by Apple TV+. For All Mankind is a show that blends sci-fi and historical fiction, imagining an alternate timeline where the Space Race had continued, pushing exploration of our solar system far beyond landing on the Moon, with other changes including the fact that the Soviet Union got to the Moon before the U.S. The series, which premiered in November 2019, was created by Ronald D. Moore, Matt Wolpert, and Ben Nedivi and stars Michael Dorman, Sarah Jones, Shantel VanSanten, Jodi Balfour, Wrenn Schmidt, and The Suicide Squad's Joel Kinnaman.
For All Mankind season 1, which begins in 1969, largely follows the establishment of the Jamestown Moon Base in 1973. It was reasonably well-received, earning 73% on Rotten Tomatoes and a nomination for Best New TV Series at the IGN Awards. Season 2, which was delayed somewhat by the pandemic but finally came out in February 2021, picks up in 1983 and follows the political turmoil on and around the colony. That season was a much more marked success, earning 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and winning both a Creative Arts Emmy and a Saturn Award. There was no question about the show being renewed, and For All Mankind season 3 began filming at the same time season 2 was airing.
