Numerous media companies have pledged to support workers who live in US states where abortion is likely to become illegal. This comes as Roe v. Wade is officially overturned, eroding what few defences were in place to protect abortion rights.
Disney, Netflix, Paramount, Comcast, Sony, Warner Bros Discovery and Amazon have all confirmed that they will cover the travel expenses for those who seek an abortion and need to evade the upcoming bans. It remains to be seen if this becomes an industry-wide policy, as the impact of the Roe V. Wade decision is expected to disproportionately affect poorer women across the US.
