The iPhone 14 is being made in India now! Apple has revealed that the first Made in India iPhone 14 will reach buyers here soon. Apple's CEO Tim Cook unveiled the latest iPhone 14 lineup during the “Far Out” event on September 7, which introduced four models: iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max. The sale has already started in India and the rest of the world from September 16. Now, Apple has expanded its manufacturing prowess to the second biggest smartphone market after China. The fact that iPhone 14 manufacturing has started in India within weeks of launch is a big triumph for Apple. Earlier it was thought that moving manufacturing out of China would be a very difficult and long-drawn out process. That India has been able to persuade Apple to manufacture iPhone 14 here is also a significant victory over China.
"We're excited to be manufacturing iPhone 14 in India," Apple said in a statement to PTI. Apple's spokesperson added, “The new iPhone 14 lineup introduces groundbreaking new technologies and important safety capabilities." The report further suggests that the Made in India iPhone 14 will start reaching local customers within the next few days. Also, the manufactured iPhone 14 in India will be for the Indian market as well as exports. It will be shipped from Foxconn's Sriperumbudur facility on the outskirts of Chennai.
Not just that, a recent report released by JP Morgan on `Apple Supply Chain relocation' suggested that Apple may move around 5 percent of iPhone 14 production to India later in 2022.
