Universal Pictures releases the official Firestarter trailer offering the first look at the upcoming Stephen King movie adaptation. First published in 1980, King's horror novel centers on Andy and Charlie McGee, a father and daughter who go on the run from a secret government agency known as The Shop after she develops pyrokinesis abilities. As the continue their escape, Andy must help his daughter get a handle on her powers and help guide her as she struggles with growing up and becoming tired of holding back who she truly is.
Zac Efron leads the cast of Firestarter as Andy alongside Ryan Kiera Armstrong as Charlie, Michael Greyeyes, Sydney Lemmon and Gloria Reuben. Development on the second adaptation of King's novel was first announced in early 2017 with Universal and Blumhouse partnering for a reboot of the property with screenwriter/producer Akiva Goldsman originally set to make his directorial debut, though he would later be replaced by Fatih Akin and subsequently Keith Thomas. Production on Firestarter would kick off in early 2021 and wrap in July and now audiences are getting their first glimpse at the new horror adaptation.

With just a few months remaining until the film's release, Universal has unveiled the official Firestarter trailer.
