FIFA 23 will be added to the ‘Play List’ on EA Play next week, it has been announced.
The latest entry in EA’s football series will be available on the Play List next Tuesday, May 16.
This also means it will be available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers, who get EA Play access as part of their membership.
The Play List is EA’s archive of legacy titles, which can be played by anyone with an EA Play (Xbox, PlayStation or PC) or an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription.
FIFA 23 will arrive on EA Play about a month quicker than FIFA 22 did. FIFA 21 will also be leaving the Play List on May 31.
FIFA 23 released in September 2022 and enjoyed a record-breaking launch for the franchise in terms of first week player numbers, according to EA.
In January, the publisher claimed FIFA 23 was “pacing to be the biggest title in franchise history”.
“Year to date net bookings from the FIFA franchise have grown 4%”, CEO Andrew Wilson said during the company’s third quarter earnings call. “In North America alone, unit sales are up 50% year over year.”
VGC’s FIFA 23 review said: “EA improves on its predecessor for the umpteenth time, once again delivering the best football game around.
“The new power shots, the revamped set piece system and women’s club teams are welcome, but anyone expecting big changes will want to hope EA Sports FC 24 delivers.”
FIFA 23 is the last EA game to sport the FIFA name after the game publisher parted ways with football’s world governing body.
EA plans to kick off “a new era” of football games with its EA Sports FC series. It recently revealed the logo for the new series as well as the first details on its upcoming FIFA successor.
