Fans have put together their own Fallout 5 trailer, using snippets of different Unreal Engine 5 projects and some fitting music.
While vague ideas for Fallout 5 exist somewhere within Bethesda, they won’t see the light of day for a very, very long time.
Not only is Bethesda currently busy with its sci-fi epic Starfield (which it’s already had to delay to 2023), it’s also meant to be working on The Elder Scrolls 6 and that hasn’t had a real update since its 2018 announcement.
Since Fallout 5 is a long way off, fans have taken it upon themselves to imagine what an announcement for the game might look like, by using the state-of-the-art Unreal Engine 5.
The trailer is comprised of different reels and projects, so not everything was made with Fallout specifically in mind. Not that you’d be able to tell with how appropriately post-apocalyptic everything looks.
Classic Fallout iconography is featured too, such as a power armour helmet from Fallout 4 and the Pip-Boy computer.
Honestly, the best part of the trailer is the use of the song It’s All Over But The Crying by The Ink Spots. Recorded in 1947, long time fans may recognise it as the same music used for Fallout 4’s first trailer.
The trailer was put together by ENFANT TERRIBLE, a YouTube channel that specialises in this sort of thing. It’s previously put together fake trailers that imagine how games like BioShock and Red Dead Redemption would look if they received modern remakes.
The wait for a new Fallout probably wouldn’t be as long if Bethesda was willing to give the reins to another studio, but Todd Howard himself has shut that possibility down.
