It's been a long time since audiences last saw the ghost with the most, but is long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice 2 ever going to happen? Beetlejuice was the movie that cemented Tim Burton as one of the most distinctive filmmakers in Hollywood. The 1988 movie was a blend of horror flick and pitch-black comedy, mixed with Burton’s unique visual style. It provided both Winona Ryder (Stranger Things) and Michael Keaton with star-making roles, with Keaton and Burton later teaming up for groundbreaking superhero movie Batman.
Beetlejuice would spawn a long-running animated series, a number of video games and a broadway musical. Despite remaining a cult favorite a sequel still hasn’t happened, despite numerous attempts in the decades since to put one together. An official announcement for Beetlejuice 2's release has seemed tantalizingly close a number of times in recent years, with the cast and crew all eager to reunite – but only under the right circumstances.

The genre-bending classic follows Adam and Barbara Maitland (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis), a married couple who dies and whose ghosts are confined to their home. Eventually, they must contend with the new owners who move in and begin to bond with the family's lonely daughter. While plot details for a second movie are not yet readily available, here’s everything we know about Beetlejuice 2 so far.
Though a Beetlejuice 2 sequel has not officially been greenlit by Warner Bros., it has been announced in March 2022 that Brad Pitt's company Plan B Entertainment is reportedly heading its production, with Keaton and Ryder returning as Beetlejuice and Lydia, respectively.
