The gaming industry is no stranger to widespread controversy. While most of the industry's most notorious points of controversy in the last year have revolved around workplace harassment and gender inequality, there's still been the odd few instances of controversy surrounding an actual video game, and unfortunately, Battlefield 2042 is a prime example.
Released at the end of last year, Battlefield 2042 was panned across the board by both critics and fans. While the mechanics themselves were fairly solid, the game's unnecessarily large maps, its lackluster approach to the live-service model, and a severe lack of content disappointed many, generating such a high level of controversy that Battlefield 2042's reputation is now irrevocably damaged. But that hasn't stopped EA. Just a few days ago, Battlefield 2042 received a large-scale Season 2 update, adding a slew of new content to the game, including a battle pass.

Launched on August 30, Battlefield 2042 Season 2: Master of Arms brings a new 100-tier battle pass to the game. Much like other live-service titles, Battlefield 2042's battle pass offers both a free and premium option. In a surprisingly consumer-friendly move, any unlocks that affect Battlefield 2042's gameplay can all be earned via the free battle pass, while the premium option gives the player a plethora of cosmetics on top.
The biggest addition coming with Battlefield 2042's Season 2 battle pass is a new specialist. Named Charlie Crawford, this new specialist is a former MI6 operative-turned black market arms dealer.
