Eternals not only introduced the title team but also a rare psychological affliction called Mahd Wy’ry, which out of all members of the Eternals, only affected Thena – but why her and not other Eternals, especially Ajak, who was aware of their past? The Marvel Cinematic Universe continues its expansion with its highly-anticipated Phase 4, which is exploring new settings, characters, and events, and it already introduced a new team of superheroes in Chloé Zhao’s Eternals.
The Eternals are a team of synthetic beings created by the Celestial Arishem the Judge and sent to Earth to protect it from the Deviants, their evil counterparts. Once the Deviants were defeated, the Eternals stayed on Earth to help humanity evolve, but they weren’t allowed to interfere in their conflicts. All this had one purpose: to prepare Earth for the birth of the Celestial Tiamut, whose seed was planted in the center of the planet, meaning that his emergence would destroy Earth. However, the Eternals were unaware of this until Sersi (Gemma Chan) became the new leader and Arishem showed her the truth, but the first one to get glimpses of their destructive purpose was Thena (Angelina Jolie).

Out of all the Eternals, Thena was the only one who was afflicted by Mahd Wy’ry, which made her dangerous. Thena could be triggered by sudden noises or threatening events, sending her into a trance-like state and making her attack anyone near her.
