Embark Studios recently confirmed it was pushing back one of its titles, ARC Raiders. Alongside the reasoning it gave, the company also shed some light on its future production plans, including a game that it plans to have out ahead of ARC Raiders.
In a blog post, Embark CEO and founder Patrick Söderlund discussed the ARC Raiders delay. As the studio confirmed, the co-op shooter won’t be launching until next year.
For transparency, Söderlund confirms Embark has several projects in development. Alongside ARC Raiders, the studio is working on a team-based first-person shooter codenamed Project Discovery. It was teased in a tweet, in November of last year.

Project Discovery has advanced, and faster than expected. Söderlund writes that the game is coming along fast enough that Embark was looking at the prospect of simultaneously launching two games. But launching two games in rapid succession might strain Embark’s resources.
“As such, we decided to let Project Discovery be our studio’s first game to market, pushing ARC Raiders to a 2023 release,” said Söderlund. “It’s a decision that will also allow us to expand and refine the ARC Raiders experience.”
With Project Discovery advancing, ARC Raiders is going to take a little more time to cook in the oven. And that may not be all for the sci-fi world either.
